Gary Neville hails "outstanding" Angel di Maria

Angel Di Maria can get better at Manchester United next season, insists Gary Neville.

Former Manchester United right-back Gary Neville has tipped Angel di Maria to rediscover his best form next season.

The winger was signed for a British-record fee of £59.7m from Real Madrid last year, but he has struggled to produce his best in a disappointing first season.

Reports have linked the 27-year-old with a move away from the club this summer, but Neville believes that Di Maria could follow in the footsteps of Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata and improve in his second campaign.

He told Sky Sports News: "I believe in Di Maria as a player. We've watched him a lot for Real Madrid and you could see his level of performance was outstanding.

"That's not happened this season and you're thinking Ashley Young has done better this season, Fellaini's been better, Mata's done better. Is Di Maria going to do better under [Louis] Van Gaal?"

Di Maria hasn't started a game since early March.
