Gary Neville has called on goalkeeper David de Gea to put together an improved run of form at Manchester United.
After months of speculation regarding his future, De Gea has finally penned a new contract at Old Trafford, extending his stay at the club until 2023.
The indecision has arguably hindered his displays for the Premier League giants, but Neville feels that the Spain international is now in the best frame of mind to produce better performances between the sticks.
Speaking on Monday Night Football, Neville said: "I've got to believe it's good news. He's had a difficult time in the Premier League. When players are distracted it doesn't help.
"He's lost his place in the national team and made more mistakes for Manchester United than ever before. But now he's signed you hope that settles him down and he starts performing."
De Gea has made a total of 367 appearances for United since signing from Atletico Madrid in 2011.
