Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker feels that to win the Premier League title his side need to be more like Manchester United and Manchester City.

Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker believes that his side need to be more like Manchester City and Manchester United if they are to win the Premier League title.

The Gunners have failed to win the top flight since the 2003-04 season and have not won a trophy since 2005 when they lifted the FA Cup.

"Manchester City and United have been so successful because they are so consistent," The Sun quotes Mertesacker as saying.

"If we can keep the consistency we showed at the end of last season, we should be challenging for trophies and titles."

Mertesacker joined the Gunners in 2011.
