Anthony Martial has insisted that he has a "player-coach relationship" with Jose Mourinho, with the Frenchman playing down suggestions that there is an issue between them.
Martial was strongly linked with a move away from Manchester United during the summer, and his relationship with Mourinho is believed to have reached an all-time low when he did not return to the club's pre-season tour of the United States following the birth of his second child.
The 22-year-old struggled for action early in the season, but has been a regular in recent weeks, and scored both of United's goals in their 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Saturday.
Martial has insisted that "things were not tense" with Mourinho, although the attacker is yet to sign a new contract with the Red Devils despite the fact that his existing deal expires this summer.
"Things were not tense between us to begin with. We have a player-coach relationship and I hope that we will continue like that," Martial told reporters.
Former Liverpool boss Graeme Souness said after the Chelsea match that it 'would be a tragedy' if Martial did not become one of the best players in world football.
