A report claims that Manchester United are prepared to pay Tottenham Hotspur in excess of £34m to land manager Mauricio Pochettino in the summer.

Manchester United have reportedly not been put off by the prospect of paying Tottenham Hotspur a compensation fee of more than £34m for manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Red Devils are believed to be deliberating over whether to stick with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has impressed during his two-month caretaker stint, or twist by turning to Pochettino.

Tottenham will do all that they possibly can to keep their in-demand manager, with chairman Daniel Levy so far refusing to open talks with their Premier League rivals.

According to the Evening Standard, however, United are prepared to pay off the remaining four years of Pochettino's contract, on top of handing over a further sum to soften the blow.

It emerged earlier this week that United paid £20m to oust Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff in December, but the club still posted a record revenue of £208m and profits of £44m in their latest financial results.

Pochettino has guided Tottenham to three successive top-three finishes in the Premier League and is also rumoured to be high on the list of Real Madrid's managerial candidates.
