David de Gea could reportedly soon become the best-paid player in the Premier League as the Spain international prepares to sign a new long-term contract with Manchester United.
De Gea still has 18 months left to run on his existing contract, but United are desperate to sign the goalkeeper to a new long-term deal as soon as possible.
The 28-year-old's future was the subject of much speculation while Jose Mourinho was in charge of the Red Devils, but the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in December has changed the mood at the club.
According to The Times, United are considering offering a new five-year contract which would earn the stopper in excess of £90m, making him the highest earner in the Premier League when it comes to basic wages.
De Gea, who moved to Old Trafford from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011, has made 347 appearances in all competitions for the 20-time English champions.
There were concerns over De Gea in the early stages of his Premier League career, but the Madrid-born stopper has since developed into one of the world's best in his position.
