Summer arrival Rasmus Hojlund is handed the number 11 shirt at Manchester United, a jersey previously worn by Mason Greenwood.

Rasmus Hojlund has been handed the number 11 shirt at Manchester United, a jersey which had previously belonged to Mason Greenwood.

The Denmark international is with the Red Devils squad in London and is widely expected to make his debut for the club in Sunday's Premier League clash with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Up until this point, Hojlund had not been assigned a number at his new club, but it has now been confirmed that he will sport the '11' jersey for the 20-time English champions, replacing Greenwood, who has moved on loan to Getafe for the 2023-24 campaign.

The 20-year-old has missed Man United's first three matches of the new Premier League campaign due to a troublesome back problem that came to light during pre-season.

However, having trained alongside his teammates for a full week, Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag said on Friday that the striker was now ready to be included.

Man United have actually confirmed five new squad numbers, including the shirts that will be worn by fellow new signings Altay Bayindir, Sergio Reguilon and Jonny Evans.

Bayindir has arrived as the new back-up goalkeeper at Old Trafford, with the Turkey international being handed the number 1 shirt, although he will be the number two behind Andre Onana.

Reguilon was signed in response to Luke Shaw's muscular injury, with the former arriving on loan from Tottenham Hotspur for the 2023-24 campaign.

The Spaniard has been given the number 15 shirt by his new club, and he is set to be in the squad against Arsenal alongside Hojlund and Bayindir.

Evans, meanwhile, has signed a one-year contract with his former club until next summer due to the strong impression that he made during pre-season.

The 35-year-old will boost a centre-back department that will be without Raphael Varane for the next few weeks due to a muscular issue.

Evans has been handed the number 35 shirt for the Red Devils, but there is not yet confirmation of a number for Sofyan Amrabat, who arrived on loan from Fiorentina on transfer deadline day.

There has also been a change of number in the first-team squad at Old Trafford, with Alejandro Garnacho moving from the number 49 to '17' to reflect his importance to the side.

Man United are currently 10th in the Premier League table, boasting six points from their opening three matches of the new campaign.
