Manchester United reportedly add Southampton boss Ralf Rangnick to their list of managerial candidates to permanently succeed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Manchester United have reportedly identified Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl as a candidate for the hotseat at Old Trafford.

A "thorough" search is underway to find Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's permanent successor, with Ralf Rangnick set to move into a two-year consultancy role from the 2022-23 season onwards.

Ajax's Erik ten Hag and Paris Saint-Germain's Mauricio Pochettino are thought to be the two frontrunners for the job, although the former recently played down speculation linking him with a move to Manchester.

Now, The Mirror reports that Southampton boss Hasenhuttl has emerged as a potential candidate, with Red Devils chiefs impressed with the Austrian's run of results on the South Coast.

The report adds that Hasenhuttl would "jump" at the chance to manage Man United, but Ten Hag and Pochettino are still the club's first choices for the soon-to-be vacant post.

Hasenhuttl has won 55, drawn 33 and lost 58 of his 146 matches in charge of Southampton and oversaw a 4-0 defeat to Aston Villa in Saturday's Premier League clash.
