Dirk Kuyt expecting "great things" at Manchester United next season

Dirk Kuyt says that Manchester United can expect "great things" under incoming manager Louis van Gaal next season.

Former Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt believes that "great things" are going to happen at Manchester United next season when Louis van Gaal takes over at Old Trafford.

The 62-year-old, who is currently managing the Netherlands at the World Cup, will take over from David Moyes at the end of the tournament in Brazil.

One player Van Gaal knows well from his time in charge of the Dutch is striker Robin van Persie, who is likely to lead the attack at United next season.

"I think Robin van Persie is an amazing player," Kuyt told The Mirror. "He has shown that at United. Unfortunately, he was injured too many times this season.

"But I'm sure, with Van Gaal and Robin together, great things are going to happen with Man United - unfortunately! Van Gaal is an open style of manager. He has a clear idea of what footballers need in training and also outside of training.

"And if you want something to change, his door is open - but you also have to have a very good argument. He treats players as adults. He is a very experienced coach and we are very lucky to have him."

The Netherlands have already secured their place in the last 16 of the World Cup, but still face one more group game against Chile on Monday evening.
