Martin Keown: 'Relegation devastating for Hull City'

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown does not believe that Hull City have been good enough to remain in the Premier League this season.

Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has said that relegation from the Premier League is "devastating" for Hull City.

The Tigers secured a point in a 0-0 draw with Manchester United on the final weekend of the season, but were relegated after Newcastle United won at home to West Ham United.

Keown has insisted that Hull's demise was not secured in their final match, rather their performances over the course of the season.

"I have been through relegation and it is devastating. There will be a hollow feeling now. Hull gave it everything today but they just could not get the ball in the back of the net," Keown told BBC Sport.

"It is not today when they lost it, all season long they could not score. [Nikica] Jelavic was injured for far too long and they needed to play the way they played today against the likes of Burnley."

Also relegated from the Premier League this season were Queens Park Rangers and Burnley.
