Juan Mata picks up first career red card

Manchester United's Juan Mata picks up two yellow cards in the space of three minutes against West Bromwich Albion, resulting in the first dismissal of his career.

Juan Mata was handed the first red card of his professional career during Manchester United's ongoing clash away at West Bromwich Albion this afternoon.

The Spanish playmaker was cautioned in the 23rd minute for failing to retreat the full 10 yards at a West Brom free kick.

Then, just three minutes later he was handed a second yellow card and subsequently his marching orders following a late challenge on former United teammate Darren Fletcher.

It is also the first red card that the Red Devils have picked up this season.
