Paul Ince: 'I could have done as well as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer'

Ex-Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince is unconvinced by the adulation aimed at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, insisting that he could have had a similar impact in the dugout.

Paul Ince has played down Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's unbeaten start at Manchester United by insisting that he could have done just as well in the caretaker role.

Sunday's 1-0 win over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium makes it nine wins and a draw for Solskjaer since taking over from Jose Mourinho in December.

United look rejuvenated under their interim boss and there have been calls for the iconic striker to land the job on a permanent basis.

However, former United midfielder Ince is unconvinced and believes that he - or others of a similar stature - could have made an identical impact.

"I think I could've gone in, at the time they needed someone to rest the ship I think I could've done that," he told BT Sport. "Brucey (Steve Bruce) could've done it. Mark Hughes could've done it. You could've done it (pointing to pundit Chris Sutton)."

United, now up to fifth place in the Premier League, return to action next Saturday with a trip to Fulham.
