Ian Holloway: Ashley Young is a "cheat"

Former Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway launches an attack on Manchester United's Ashley Young for his alleged diving antics.

Former Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway has branded Ashley Young a "cheat" after the Manchester United winger won a controversial penalty in their 0-0 draw with Real Sociedad in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Young also won a dubious spot-kick when he went down against Holloway's Palace earlier this season, and the one time Blackpool boss has launched an attack on the Red Devils' man.

"There can be no getting away from the fact the bloke is a cheat," Holloway told The Mirror.

"I've lost count of the number of times over the past few years where he has flung himself to the ground theatrically to either win a penalty or get his opponent sent off, or usually both.

"As I was still Palace boss, I had to be diplomatic in my comments after the game because I didn't want to run the risk of being hit with a Football Association fine. But everyone connected with Palace knew we had been cheated that day."

Moyes reprimanded Young following the incident against Palace, but defended his player in his latest diving row earlier this week.
