Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson warns his side to guard against complacency after last night's defeat to Manchester City at Old Trafford.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has urged his side to guard against complacency as they close in on the Premier League title.

Ferguson's side saw their lead cut to 12 points at the top of the table last night in a 2-1 home defeat to Manchester City, thanks a late winner from Sergio Aguero.

With a strong advantage to protect, Ferguson has urged his players to put last night to the back of their minds and start preparing for Saturday's clash against Stoke City.

He told reporters at the post-match press conference: "It's a healthy lead but we're not taking anything for granted.

"If you look at our history over the years, we always make it difficult for ourselves.

"The supporters are hanging on the edge of their seats every year. It is a 12-point lead, we go to Stoke at the weekend and we will have a go."

United need 10 more points to claim the championship, with the pursuit of that target beginning against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.
