Rio Ferdinand remains unsure on Manchester United future

Rio Ferdinand admits that he is unsure where his future lies with his Manchester United contract due to expire this summer.

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has admitted that he is still unsure where his future lies.

The 35-year-old, who joined the Red Devils in 2002, will be out of contract at the end of the current campaign.

Ferdinand says that he will respect any decision the club's future manager makes in regard to his future, with Louis van Gaal widely expected to be named as David Moyes's successor next week.

"The club at the moment is in a position where they can't really make any decisions about anything," the former Leeds United centre-back is quoted as saying by The Mirror. "For me to be saying, 'I want to do this or that' is irrelevant.

"We've got to see who becomes the new manager and boxes will be ticked from there. I don't know if whether the new manager will help me [stay at United], I just want the best solution for the club.

"Whatever it is, I'll respect it. After that, I'm open to offers, but I'd rather wait and see what happens at United, then there will be a decision for me to make - but I won't go below the Conference!"

Ferdinand has featured 22 times for United in all competitions this season.
