Jose Enrique has leapt to the defence of teammate Luis Suarez following accusations from Sir Alex Ferguson that he is a serial diver.

The Manchester United manager made the comments following his side's 1-1 draw at Anfield earlier this month.

However, full-back Enrique has rubbished the claims and has instead hinted that Ferguson's side are the main culprits of simulation.

"The truth is that it should have been a red card for their defender because he kicked Luis," Enrique told reporters.

"Last week, [Ferguson] defended his team because we played them. The truth is Luis is a really dangerous player and is a really nice guy. He doesn't dive.

"Some of the Manchester United players [go down like they] dive into the swimming pool. They defend their team, we defend our team – that's normal."

Liverpool followed up the draw with United by being held at home by Norwich City on Saturday evening.
