David de Gea believes that he is the first-choice goalkeeper at Manchester United, despite competition from Anders Lindegaard.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea believes that he is the first-choice goalkeeper at Old Trafford.

The Spaniard made a number of stunning saves to earn his side a point in their 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane on Sunday, but could now find himself on the bench against Fulham at the weekend.

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been known to rotate De Gea and Anders Lindegaard in the past, but the former Atletico Madrid man is certain that he is the Red Devils' number one.

"From the moment I signed I considered myself the first-choice keeper at the club but it's down to the manager," De Gea told The Mirror.

"He rotates us when he feels it's good for the team. But obviously I've played a few on the bounce now and that's positive.

"For a goalkeeper it's always important to have consistency and to be playing regularly. It's good for confidence and morale."

United host Fulham in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday.
