Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea denies that Iker Casillas will be rusty when he takes to the field for Spain in the Confederations Cup next month.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has denied that Iker Casillas will be rusty when he takes to the field for Spain in the Confederations Cup next month.

The tournament gets underway on June 15 in Brazil and some have feared that Casillas would not be at 100% after falling behind Diego Lopez in the pecking order at Real Madrid.

However, De Gea has dismissed the theories by pointing to Casillas's longevity in the game, and claimed that he is still the world's outstanding stopper.

"Iker Casillas's lack of game time heading out with Spain? We're talking about Iker, the best goalkeeper in the world," De Gea told reporters.

"He will be training there, playing games in training and getting into shape during training. I am sure that when they get to the Confederations Cup he will be in 100% shape."

De Gea will be part of the Spain Under-21 side that will be attempting to retain
the European Championship this summer in Israel.
