Matteo Darmian: 'I don't regret Manchester United move'

Defender Matteo Darmian insists that he does not regret a transfer to Manchester United, despite his lack of appearances under Jose Mourinho.

Defender Matteo Darmian has revealed that his focus is on trying to regain a place in Jose Mourinho's plans, rather than harbouring regret over his move to Old Trafford.

Darmian has made 72 appearances for United since joining from Torino in 2015, but the Italian international has made just two starts during the current campaign.

The versatile full-back is largely used as backup by Mourinho, but the 27-year-old has insisted that he is comfortable with his decision to make the switch to England.

"I don't regret the decision I took. I would make the same decision over and over again," Darmian told reporters.

"Obviously like every footballer I would like to be playing as much as possible, but I am working hard, putting in the effort and trying to make the manager's decisions difficult, and I'll continue to do that.

"I won't deny that I always watch Italian football and I don't know what will happen in the future. If there is an opportunity to return, then I'll make the necessary evaluations."

Darmian has only played 90 minutes of Premier League football this season, which came in the 2-2 draw away at Stoke City.
