Paddy Crerand defends Paddy McNair change

Former Manchester United midfielder Paddy Crerand praises the ruthless streak of club boss Louis van Gaal.

Former Manchester United midfielder Paddy Crerand believes that Louis van Gaal's ruthless streak is a good sign for the club.

Young centre-back Paddy McNair started Monday's Premier League clash at Southampton – a match that United won 2-1 courtesy of a double from Robin van Persie.

However, McNair was substituted in the latter stages of the first period after struggling with the pace of the match.

"Our manager is not scared of making changes. No reflection on Paddy Mcnair he has done tremendous sometimes managers need to make changes," Crerand tweeted.

Crerand now works as a pundit for United's official television channel.
