Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher criticises Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba for his performance in Saturday's Manchester derby.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has criticised Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba for his performance in Saturday's Manchester derby at Old Trafford.

Both Man United and Manchester City entered the derby protecting 100% records in the Premier League at the start of the new season, but it was the visitors that triumphed courtesy of 2-1 success.

Carragher claims that Man United boss Jose Mourinho "got it tactically wrong" by deploying Pogba in a two-man central midfield and has branded the Frenchman's performance "ill-disciplined".

"I don't think Pep Guardiola got it massively right, rather that Jose Mourinho got it tactically wrong. What Mourinho wasn't helped by was the performance his players - he made two changes at half-time - and specifically the performance of Paul Pogba," Carragher told Sky Sports News.

"I think, for a central midfield player, in a game of that magnitude, it was one of the most ill-disciplined performances you'll see in the first 45 minutes. The only way to describe it is the best player in the schoolyard. He runs where we wants, does want he wants."

Pogba re-joined Man United from Juventus for a world-record fee in the summer.
