Jamie Carragher backs Trent Alexander-Arnold to eclipse Gary Neville

Jamie Carragher believes that Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold will eclipse Manchester United legend Gary Neville as the Premier League's greatest ever right-back.

Jamie Carragher has tipped Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold to surpass Manchester United legend Gary Neville as the Premier League's best-ever right-back.

Neville was part of eight Premier League-winning teams during his illustrious United career, making exactly 400 appearances in the top flight overall.

The United stalwart was named in the PFA Team of the Year on five separate occasions during that time, but Carragher believes that 21-year-old Alexander-Arnold will eclipse his fellow pundit's legacy and make young players want to become right-backs.

"I think there is a young lad at Liverpool who will take that mantle from Neville," Carragher told Sky Sports News.

"I once said how people don't grow up wanting to be Gary Neville but I think a lad from Liverpool will change that."

Alexander-Arnold has already made 84 Premier League appearances and has winners' medals from the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
