Ryan Giggs admits that it would be "fantastic" to be included in the Great Britain squad for the Olympic Games.

Ryan Giggs has described the possibility of him representing Great Britain at the Olympic Games as "fantastic".

The Manchester United midfielder has been widely tipped to be one of the chosen three players over the age of 23 that coach Stuart Pearce is permitted to select.

Having never experienced a major tournament during his international career with Wales, the 38-year-old has admitted that he would be honoured to be called up to the squad.

"I'm on the shortlist and if I get picked it would be fantastic. I think everyone is excited about the Olympics coming to London and coming to Britain but obviously I'd have to wait and see if I get picked or not," he told Press Association Sport.

"It is obviously a tournament and I have never been involved [in one]. It will be exciting, I've never experienced it so hopefully it will happen but we will wait and see."

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson recently revealed that he would allow Giggs to take part in the Games.
