Manchester United will be without injured defensive duo Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire for Wednesday's Champions League group-stage opener against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
Both players have sustained unspecified problems, and while the length of Maguire's absence from first-team action remains unknown, Wan-Bissaka is facing "several weeks" out after picking up his injury in the closing stages of last weekend's disappointing 3-1 home defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion; Diogo Dalot is therefore expected to start at right-back against Bayern.
Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia (both muscle), Tom Heaton (calf) and Amad Diallo (knee) are also nursing injuries, but the Red Devils have been boosted by the return to training of Raphael Varane (muscle) and Mason Mount (hamstring) who could feature in some capacity in Germany; Sofyan Amrabat (back) and Kobbie Mainoo (ankle) have both begin individual training sessions and Wednesday's game may come too soon for the midfield pair.
Meanwhile, Antony will not represent the club 'until further notice' amid allegations of assault made against him, and Jadon Sancho is also unavailable as he has been banished from training following his social media outburst at manager Erik ten Hag.
The Man United boss unsuccessfully deployed a 4-4-2 diamond formation for the loss to Brighton in the absence of right-wingers Antony and Sancho, so the Dutchman may consider reverting to a 4-2-3-1 setup and use Bruno Fernandes on the right, or hand a start to either Alejandro Garnacho or Facundo Pellistri.
Casemiro came under fire for his sluggish display against Brighton, but the 31-year-old is expected to continue in centre-midfield alongside Christian Eriksen, and Bayern-linked Scott McTominay is also in contention to retain his starting spot.
Ten Hag was booed for his decision to substitute debutant Rasmus Hojlund just after the hour mark last weekend, but he explained after the match that he was managing the striker's minutes considering that he has only recently recovered from a back issue. The Denmark international is expected to start on Wednesday, though, with Marcus Rashford continuing on the left and Anthony Martial set to provide cover on the substitutes' bench.
Sergio Reguilon was handed his debut at left-back against Brighton and could continue in the back four alongside Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof and Dalot.
Manchester United possible starting lineup: Onana; Dalot, Lindelof, Martinez, Reguilon; Casemiro, Eriksen; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford; Hojlund
