Manchester United and Chelsea are level at half time following a goalless first half at Old Trafford.

Manchester United survived a strong start by Chelsea to reach half time goalless in their Premier League match at Old Trafford this afternoon.

The visitors looked to break the deadlock early on as Juan Mata charged into the penalty area before chipping the ball forward for Demba Ba, but the striker's header went over the crossbar.

Anders Lindegaard almost gifted Chelsea the lead after he failed to gather the ball from an Oscar strike, but he managed to take it on the second attempt after it bounced off the post.

The Danish keeper had to make another stop just before the half-hour mark as Frank Lampard unleashed an effort from just outside the penalty area, but the midfielder failed to get a clean contact with the ball, giving Lindegaard an easy stop.

Ryan Giggs delivered the ball for Robin van Persie shortly before the half-time whistle, but the league's top goalscorer could not get his shot on target.
