Michael Oliver to referee FA Cup final between Chelsea, Manchester United

Michael Oliver will referee the FA Cup final for the first time next month when Chelsea take on Manchester United at Wembley Stadium.

Michael Oliver has been announced as the referee for next month's FA Cup final between Chelsea and Manchester United at Wembley Stadium.

The 33-year-old's highest-profile fixture to date was arguably the recent Champions League quarter-final clash between Real Madrid and Juventus.

Oliver came under fire for awarding Madrid a late penalty and dismissing Gianluigi Buffon, although both decisions were backed by his refereeing bosses.

Following a solid campaign at domestic level, the Northumberland whistler will now officiate English football's showpiece event, 15 months on from overseeing Man United's 3-2 win over Southampton in the EFL Cup final.

Lee Betts and Ian Hussin will run the line, while Lee Mason and Neil Swarbrick have been named as fourth official and video assistant referee respectively.
