Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson feels that Rafael Da Silva is capable of keeping Cristiano Ronaldo quiet.

Sir Alex Ferguson has backed Rafael Da Silva to deal with the threat of Cristiano Ronaldo when Manchester United take on Real Madrid in the Champions League in February.

Having left United for Madrid in 2009, Portugal international Ronaldo has become considered one of the best players in world football.

However, Ferguson believes that his full-back Rafael is showing the sort of form that could nullify any danger that Ronaldo may pose.

"Their best player is the one we know about and that's an advantage to us," said Ferguson. "We know everything he can do in a game, but Rafa's had a fantastic season for us.

"He's quick and he's aggressive and my faith would be in him to do the job."

Rafael has made 20 appearances in all competitions for United this season.
