Report: Vincent Kompany to be courted by Monaco

Monaco are reportedly ready to test Manchester City's resolve to keep their captain Vincent Kompany with a January bid for the Belgian defender.

Monaco are ready to tempt Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany into leaving the Etihad Stadium with a lucrative January offer, according to a report.

The French outfit spent nearly £150m on new recruits in the summer transfer window and are ready to add Kompany to a squad that is now capable of challenging Paris Saint-Germain for the Ligue 1 title.

Injuries have prevented the Belgian international defender to just two full Premier League games this season, but The Express claims that his fitness concerns do not worry Monaco owner Dmitry Rybolovlev, who is ready to sanction a January move for the 27-year-old.

City are almost certain to rebuff any approaches for their skipper, whose contract with the club does not expire until 2018, but that will seemingly not stop Monaco from lodging a big-money offer.

Kompany has made 212 appearances for the Citizens since joining them from Hamburg for a fee of £6m in 2008.
