Vincent Kompany to miss Chelsea match

Defender Vincent Kompany is ruled out of Manchester City's trip to Chelsea after failing to recover from a thigh injury.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that defender Vincent Kompany will not return from injury against Chelsea at the weekend.

Kompany is still troubled by a thigh injury picked up against Everton before the international break, and Pellegrini has admitted that his captain has no chance of recovering in time for the match at Stamford Bridge.

The 60-year-old told reporters: "Vincent is still injured, so he will not have a chance to play this game."

The Belgium international has made just six appearances for City this season.
