Barcelona attacker Lionel Messi has encouraged his fellow Argentinian Sergio Aguero to join Real Madrid.
The Manchester City striker has long been linked with a switch to Real, having reportedly turned down the chance to join Jose Mourinho's squad last summer.
Despite playing for Madrid's bitterest rivals, Messi admits that he would like to see his compatriot turning out at the Bernabeu.
"If he goes to Real Madrid I am sure it will give him much joy. If it's the best thing for him, I will be very happy, because of our friendship," Messi told Radio 9.
"I get along very well with Kun off the field and we play well together. However in the national team there are very good strikers so we must take advantage of every time we are recalled."
Aguero joined City in August 2011 from Atletico Madrid.
