Manchester City are reportedly happy to let Claudio Bravo leave on a free transfer when his contract expires this summer, with Zack Steffen set to become the new back-up.

Manchester City are reportedly happy to let Claudio Bravo leave the club on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The 36-year-old's current deal runs out on June 30, although the suspension of the football season due to the coronavirus pandemic has raised questions as to whether expiring contracts will be extended until whenever the 2019-20 campaign ends.

Kicker reports that Man City are not lining up a new permanent deal for the goalkeeper, though, in order to allow Zack Steffen the chance to step up as the new number two.

Steffen signed for City from Columbus Crew last summer and has spent the current season on loan at Fortuna Dusseldorf, where has has shipped 37 goals and kept only two clean sheets in 18 appearances.

Despite those figures, Pep Guardiola is willing to give the American a chance to provide competition for Ederson and has therefore given the green light to offload Bravo.

The Chile international moved to the Etihad in a £17m deal four years ago but was displaced as number one by Ederson after just one season.
