Barcelona are reportedly ready to offer Alexis Sanchez as part of a bid for Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany.
The Catalan club are ready to make a move after Kompany fell out with City manager Roberto Mancini over his international selection.
According to The People, Barca will offer Sanchez, young defender Marc Bartra and cash for City's centre-back.
Mancini tried to sign Sanchez in 2011 but lost out to Barcelona, and could welcome the chance to bring the Chilean to the Etihad Stadium this summer.
The report also suggests that the 26-year-old was angry with Mancini's decision to publicly criticise him, and Barca feel that the relationship could be beyond repair.
If that is not the case, then they could look at Arsenal's Belgian defender Thomas Vermaelen, as they plan for a future without Carles Puyol and Eric Abidal.
Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are also monitoring the situation.
