David Platt expects Manchester City to respond

David Platt thinks that Manchester City will respond from midweek disappointment in Europe to produce a positive performance against Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester City assistant coach David Platt has insisted that he expects the reigning champions to respond against Tottenham Hotspur.

City slipped to a disappointing draw against Ajax in midweek, making qualification for the Champions League knockout stages extremely unlikely.

Platt believes that City have enough strong characters within the squad to respond quickly.

He told Sky Sports News: "Players are resilient animals and people don't give them credit for that. They think that players get affected and things like that.

"Disappointment or any pleasure lasts a very short time because immediately there's another game coming your way and the boys have got to put their boots back on again.

"This is the first day we've had back when we're all together and my experience would tell me that this will happen after the next game too."

City trail bitter rivals Manchester United by four points going into the Spurs match.
