Manchester City's David Platt understands Roberto Mancini's anger

Manchester City assistant manager David Platt says that Roberto Mancini was right to feel "frustrated" at the referee following City's 2-2 draw with Ajax in the Champions League.

Manchester City assistant boss David Platt has jumped to the defence of manager Roberto Mancini following the Italian's rant at match officials during his side's Champions League draw with Ajax in midweek.

The 47-year-old stormed onto the pitch after the final whistle blew on City's 2-2 draw with the Dutch champions to confront referee Peter Rasmussen, who denied Sergio Aguero a goal after it was flagged as offside and refused Mario Balotelli's penalty claim in the dying seconds of the clash.

"Why wouldn't the manager of a football club be frustrated?" said Platt. "Why wouldn't we all be frustrated?"

UEFA revealed the following day that Mancini would not face any disciplinary action for his rant at the official.
