Nicolas Otamendi: 'Scoring against Newcastle United was just a matter of time'

Manchester City centre-back Nicolas Otamendi suggests that he was not too worried after going behind to Newcastle United because of his side's ability to score goals.

Manchester City defender Nicolas Otamendi has suggested that it was just a matter of time before his side scored against Newcastle United in the Premier League.

The Sky Blues had originally found themselves 1-0 down to Steve McClaren's men, before Sergio Aguero scored five to help inspire the club to a 6-1 comeback victory.

"We were not getting the breakthrough, but we knew it was just a matter of being patient and waiting given our offensive potential," Otamendi is quoted by Gola.com as saying.

"It is important that Aguero managed the achievement, for himself, and for the team."

The victory has temporarily lifted City into first place in the Premier League table.
