Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini will not be punished by the Football Association for waving an imaginary red card during Monday's 1-0 win over Wigan Athletic.
The Italian has come in for criticism for his actions, with both Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Mick McCarthy and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney voicing their displeasure.
However, BBC Sport has learned that the brandishing of imaginary cards cannot be punished under FA regulations.
The FA may yet still write to Mancini to warn him of his future conduct.
