Joe Hart: 'Manchester City must dominate English football'

Joe Hart believes that the pressure is on Manchester City to dominate English football for many years to come.

Joe Hart has claimed that there is no reason why Manchester City should not dominate the Premier League for many years to come.

Since the targets of the club were changed by Sheikh Mansour's investment in the summer of 2008, City have won two titles but failed to defend on both occasions while also struggling to make an impact in the Champions League.

Hart admits that the pressure is on Manuel Pellegrini's side to not only finish top of the table this season, but to also become a force over an extended period.

"It has to be a goal for us to dominate domestic football now," the England goalkeeper told the Daily Mail.

"With our resources, the setup here, wages, all that combined, everything has been put there for us to be a very, very strong force in all parts of the game. It's down to us now. It's our responsibility to fulfil that.

"The sky's the limit for us. My thought process isn't about where people say we should be. I respect people have opinions but I don't have to take them on board. I know what we can do and where we can go."

City can return to the top of the table by avoiding defeat against Manchester United on Sunday.
