Shay Given insists that he is not concerned to be facing former club Manchester City.

Shay Given has said that he is not bothered about facing former club Manchester City this afternoon.

Given, who left Newcastle after over a decade to join the Citizens in 2009, struggled to make an impact in his two seasons at the Etihad Stadium before being allowed to leave the club last summer.

"You just get on with it," he said. "Perhaps the media and the fans make a bit too much of players facing their former clubs sometimes.

"Last week going back to Newcastle was special for me because I was there so long and the reception I got was special. But apart from that it was about getting a result for Villa and not conceding two goals.

"I'm not overly bothered about Manchester City to be honest. It is all about trying to get on a run again."

The Villans could move as high as 11th place in the Premier League with a win this afternoon.
