Vincent Kompany to miss start of Pep Guardiola's Manchester City stint?

A report in Belgium reveals that Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany will miss the start of next season after undergoing surgery on his groin injury.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has reportedly been informed that his latest injury will force him to spend the next four months on the sidelines.

If that is the case, the centre-back will not be available to incoming City boss Pep Guardiola until September at the earliest.

Yesterday afternoon the 30-year-old confirmed that his groin problem, which he picked up during the early exchanges of the 1-0 loss to Real Madrid on Wednesday night, would prevent him from representing Belgium at Euro 2016.

However, according to Belgian outlet HLN, Kompany has since undergone surgery on the complaint, ruling him out of the start of next season.

A succession of injuries have limited the defender to just 14 Premier League appearances this term.
