Joleon Lescott says he won't contact Manchester City teammate Mario Balotelli ahead of England's quarter-final meeting with Italy at Euro 2012.

Manchester City teammates Joleon Lescott and Mario Balotelli haven't spoken to each other ahead of their Euro 2012 meeting.

Lescott's England meet Balotelli's Italy in the quarter-finals of the tournament after the Three Lions won Group D where the Azzurri finished second in Group C.

City midfielder James Milner previously said that he would banter Balotelli ahead of Sunday's meeting, but Lescott, who will be marking the Italian, says he won't be giving him a phone call.

"There won't be texts. We are here for different teams. We play together at club level but international level is totally different," said Lescott.

"Coming up against Mario is obviously going to be a tough task. I know the quality he possesses. At any time he can create something out of nothing. I am sure there will be strengths and weaknesses we will be looking to exploit against each other."

England face Italy in the last eight of the European Championships on Sunday.
