Eintracht Frankfurt are just three points off the top four in the Bundesliga as they draw 0-0 with Mainz.

Eintracht Frankfurt have maintained their chances of finishing in the top four in the Bundesliga this season with a goalless away draw with local rivals Mainz.

In what proved to a keenly contested derby, the first chance fell to Bo Svensson as early as the second minute, but he failed to get his shot past Frankfurt goalkeeper Oka Nikolov.

Nicolai Muller came close for Mainz in the 24th minute but saw his shot go wide of the post, before the visitors' Alexander Meier forced out a good save from Christian Wetklo.

Andreas Ivanschitz thought that he had broken the deadlock at the Coface Arena in the opening minutes of the second half, but it was ruled out for offside.

Mainz began to assert themselves on the game and could have taken the lead when Zdenek Pospech headed Ivanschitz's cross towards goal, but Nikolov made a good save.

Frankfurt made a late rally to pick up all three points, but had to settle for a draw in the end.
