Zenit St Petersburg have reached the last 16 of the Champions League after they beat Lyon 2-0 to leave the Ligue 1 side on the brink of exiting the competition.
Lyon were on the back foot in the early stages when Danny's shot was clear off the line by Samuel Umtiti, after Anthony Lopes had spilled a cross from defender Domenico Criscito.

Sergi Darder then curled a meek effort into the grasp of Yuri Lodygin before Danny wasted another shooting opportunity as Lopes raced off his line to thwart the Portugal international.
However, Zenit were the ones to break the deadlock as Hulk weaved his way through the Lyon defence before teeing up Artyom Dzyuba, and the Russian striker duly stroked the ball into the net.

Hubert Fournier's men tried to produce a response before the interval and were almost rewarded with an equaliser when Henri Bedimo's strike left Lodygin sprawling across his goal as it hit the bar.
Lyon's hopes of a revival were quickly dashed within minutes of the restart as Dzyuba prodded the ball underneath the onrushing Lopes to double the visitors' lead.

OL's evening went from bad to worse when Maxime Gonalons was given a second yellow card for a poor tackle on Danny.
Zenit were also reduced to 10 men in the dying moments when Alexander Anyukov was sent off for his challenge on Maxwel Cornet.
However, despite a late disallowed goal for Lyon after Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa was ruled to be offside, the Russian side managed to hold on and qualify for the last 16 of the competition.
