Lyon defender Samuel Umtiti talks up Premier League, La Liga move

Lyon defender Samuel Umtiti reveals that he wants to continue his career in either England or Spain when he decides to part company with his current club.

Lyon defender Samuel Umtiti has revealed that he has ambitions of moving to either the Premier League or La Liga once he has fully developed at his current club.

The 21-year-old, who came through the youth system at Lyon and has since made more than 100 first-team league appearances for the French club, was strongly linked with a move to Chelsea in the summer.

While the Cameroon-born centre-back has said that he is not in a rush to leave France, a future move to either Spain or England would be of interest.

"I'm very ambitious, I have quite a few goals, but I've still got many things to learn with Lyon," he told RMC. "Going abroad is a dream, there are very great clubs that you dream about. England? Everyone admires that league. Spain, too. I would say I prefer the Spanish game, but to be honest, I don't have a real preference."

Umtiti has made seven appearances for France's Under-21 side, but has not yet been capped by the senior team.
