England captain Steven Gerrard has claimed that he needs time away to "clear his head" as he ponders his international future.
Following England's elimination from the group stages of this summer's World Cup, it had been claimed that the Liverpool midfielder would announce his international retirement.
A final decision has not been made, but Gerrard has not ruled out retiring from the national team.
"I've asked the manager for time over the summer to make my decision. I'm hurting very bad, I'm broken. I need to get away and clear my head," he told reporters at a press conference.
Qualification for Euro 2016 starts in September.
