Swansea City to rival Stoke City for Joe Allen

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins confirms that the club are interested in re-signing Liverpool midfielder and Stoke City target Joe Allen this summer.

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has confirmed that the club are interested in re-signing Joe Allen from Liverpool this summer.

The Reds have accepted a £13m bid from Stoke City for the Wales international, whose performances at Euro 2016 earned him a place in UEFA's Team of the Tournament.

However, Swansea could look to rival the Potters for the 26-year-old's signature after their American takeover was completed last night.

"Joe is one of our own players and if at all possible we would probably make that signing," Jenkins is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

Allen made 150 appearances during his first spell at Swansea, helping them from League One to the Premier League before his £15m switch to Anfield in 2012.
