Liverpool reportedly switched their attention to Rickie Lambert after being put off by Swansea City's asking price for Wilfried Bony.
After scoring 16 goals in his first Premier League season, Bony is believed to have caught the eye of Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, who is keen to add to his attacking options.
According to Goal.com, Swansea informed the Reds that they would need to pay £20m to secure the 25-year-old's services this summer.
Liverpool refused to meet their demands, and have instead launched a bid for Saints and England forward Lambert.
Reports have suggested that Lambert will have a medical with Liverpool this weekend.
