Liverpool close in on £4m Rickie Lambert?

Liverpool reportedly prepare a £4m move for Southampton's Rickie Lambert.

Liverpool are reportedly lining up a £4m move for Southampton striker Rickie Lambert.

Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is believed to be keen on the forward and betting was recently suspended on the England international moving to Anfield this summer.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the five-time European champions are ready to try to prise the 32-year-old away from St Mary's after an impressive season that saw the Saints finish eighth in the Premier League.

The Reds are said to be keen to wrap up the deal before the Three Lions depart for Miami for their World Cup warm-up games, and the fee is believed to be £4m with a series of add-ons that could rise to around £7m.

Liverpool have also been heavily linked with a move for Lambert's teammate Adam Lallana.
