Liverpool are reportedly continuing to monitor any developments with the future of one of Real Madrid's star players.

Real Madrid forward Rodrygo reportedly remains of interest to two clubs in the Premier League.

The Brazil international is currently preparing for his sixth season at the Bernabeu already on his way to legendary status at the club.

A total of 54 goals and 41 assists have been contributed from 216 appearances in all competitions, 23 of which came during the 2023-24 La Liga and Champions League campaigns.

Rodrygo has also persistently stated that he sees his future at Los Blancos, who have him tied down to a contract until 2028.

Nevertheless, the arrival of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain has put his game time at risk of being reduced, depending on how Carlo Ancelotti lines up in the final third.

Premier League teams monitoring the situation

As per Mundo Deportivo, both the player and Real insist that there will be no movement with regards to switching to another club this summer.

That is seemingly a scenario that suits all parties and is unlikely to change from Real's perspective unless they receive a proposal that they deem too attractive to turn down.

The same report cites Liverpool as 'appearing in the English media' as rivals to Manchester City in the race for the 23-year-old's signature.

Arne Slot is still to make his first addition as Liverpool boss at a time when the futures of several key players remain up in the air in the long term.

Rodrygo would realistically be viewed as a straight alternative to Mohamed Salah should a Saudi Pro League team choose to make an approach over the coming weeks.

Salah may not necessarily to accept any offer, yet it is suggested that Rodrygo has been identified as the ideal replacement providing that Liverpool are given any encouragement to make a bid.

Could Man City realistically make a move?

Should Julian Alvarez complete his transfer to Atletico Madrid, Pep Guardiola will be left with a large chunk of money to spend on a new forward.

Guardiola has acknowledged that City are assessing how to deal with the likely departure of someone who they viewed as the ideal foil or alternative to Erling Haaland.

Rodrygo possesses a different profile to that of Alvarez, plus it would take more than the £82m that will be generated through the Argentina international's sale to purchase the Real star.

City are well placed with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules, however, courtesy of a number of homegrown sales being completed in recent weeks.
