Jurgen Klopp's transfer plans have reportedly been dealt a blow as reported Liverpool target Emerson Palmieri has insisted that he has no intention to leave current club Roma.
Reds manager Klopp was understood to have his eye on making a move for Palmieri during the summer window, but the player's ongoing recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament injury put paid to any approach.
Recently it was reported that Klopp would seek to acquire the Brazilian for £22m in January, and while the player finds such links "flattering", he says that he will be staying at the Stadio Olimpico.
"I have heard that clubs such as Inter Milan and Liverpool are seeking to sign me. But I am under contract with Roma. I am flattered by stories such as these," The Sun quotes him as saying.
"However, I want to stay here in Rome. I am happy here.
"Roma have a great squad, with everyone good enough to start matches. There are so many close-fought games, and it is vital for us to have a well-stocked squad.
"We can compete till the very end for the title."
The 23-year-old is now back in action after six months on the sidelines.
