Crystal Palace's Steve Parish: 'Money needs to be right for Mamadou Sakho deal'

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish says that the money needs to work for both clubs in order to get a deal done for Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho.

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has claimed that the financial aspect of a potential deal for Mamadou Sakho needs to right for both the club and Liverpool.

The French centre-back joined the Eagles on a short-term loan in January, and he made a quick impression, helping keep four clean sheets and winning five of the eight Premier League games that he played in.

His spell was cut short, though, when he suffered a knee injury, but the club remain keen to sign him on a permanent deal.

There have been reports that Liverpool are demanding £30m for Sakho, who fell out with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp after breaching disciplinary rules during last summer's pre-season tour.

"The money needs to work for us and for Liverpool," Parish told Holmesdale Radio. "I'm sure there'll be a negotiation on that. If we can make it work, of course we'd like to, I'm not going to try and be coy or clever on that.

"He's a very good player and I think he likes being with us. We like him. Let's hope we can do it. You cannot con anyone that he did not make a massive difference. It is one we would like to do."

Palace, who sit 13th in the table, will face Manchester United on the final day of the season on Sunday.
